Welcome to the website of Galina’s Hope. You may ask – Who is Galina? What is she hoping for? Let us answer that by first sharing with you an amazing story. A young girl grows up in the Soviet Union during the Cold War era as an “underground Christian” … only to become a young woman who makes some very foolish choices that would change the course of her life forever.

She marries into an alcohol-fueled, abusive relationship. Then, as the Soviet Union collapses, she and her husband and children move to the United States, hoping for a new life. But the abuse escalates – until that fateful day when her world comes crashing down. She comes home from work to find her apartment engulfed in flames, her children inside. Her husband has snapped – he has murdered their three boys, set fire to their home, and killed himself.

A fictional novel? Perhaps a TV episode? No – this story is very real – it happened to a lady named Galina.

But there is more to this story. Over two thousand miles away, a man named Peter faces his own devastating trial the very same week. His wife Elsie is suddenly taken ill, and dies, leaving Peter to raise four small children on his own. In his grief, Peter becomes embittered toward a God who would allow such heartache and loss.

Now, to leave Pete and Galina’s story here would be to give it a cruel, heartbreaking ending – but this is not the end of the story – rather, it’s the beginning of a script only the Master Author could have penned. For it is the story of God’s immeasurable grace, a tale of healing and restoration, a message from the God who can bring beauty from ashes. It’s a story of hope – Galina’s Hope.
